I went to Mario’s Master class in Detroit about a year ago and he gave us a sneak peak in what is now a product in the Makeup by Mario line. The line has been a long time coming – 20 years to be exact. I love when makeup formulas are created by artist since we know what we want out of products. Mario is one of my biggest makeup inspirations so when I learned of his new line, I was excited to try it out.

Mini Tutorial I created using the products mentioned in this review

The Master Mattes palette is my favorite product from the line. The perfect blend of matte, neutral eyeshadows that is universal for several parts of your routine. It’s the top product that I reach for in my kit, and its small and compact making it perfect for travel. I haven’t played around with the Master Metallics much, but the shades I have used are creamy and pigmented. The Master Metals is unique compared to what has been recently launching in cosmetics. They can be used on their own, or with the Master Manipulator to turn them into an eyeliner or make the color extremely intense – perfect for more editorial looks.

He previewed these at his class and right when I saw them I searched high and low for something similar I could purchase. They are a perfect topper to an eyeshadow look, or all over the lid on their own to do a quick eye look on the go. They give your eyes a wet look – something I’m obsessed with. I love to use them as a cheek highlighter for a more dramatic look. I love all three colors, but Quartz is my favorite.

I think anyone who wants a more subtle, glow from within look should own this. It is extremely hard to find a product that gives you that glossy look on your cheeks that doesn’t ruin the makeup underneath or last all day. I’ve used oils, aquaphor, healing ointments etc. to achieve this look, but they just aren’t practical. The Secret Glow gives you that look without manipulating the makeup underneath or having a sticky feeling on your face that lasts all day.

Since I started writing this review, Mario has come out with a few new products I haven’t tried yet, but I cannot wait to get my hands on them. You can really tell how much work and dedication he put into his line and so far I’m obsessed!
