Smokey eyes are intimidating. The key is slowly building it up and remembering to trust the process; it looks ugly until it looks pretty. Here are some steps for a flawless smokey eye:
Step 1: Start with a good base – eyeshadow primer or concealer, set with translucent powder or a cream colored eyeshadow works for this.
Step 2: Use a transition shade – something a few shades darker than your skin tone that’s warm toned works best, so the eyeshadow doesn’t look too ashy or grey. Bronzer works well for this.
Step 3: Use a pigmented, black, creamy base ( like a gel eyeliner or creamy eyeliner pencil). Start closest to your lash line and slowly blend your way up with less product as you go. You want to just reach the crease, but keep the black on your lid.
Step 4: Set the cream with a black eyeshadow, this will keep it long lasting.
Step 5: Blend between the black and the transition shade with a deep brown eyeshadow.
PRO TIP: Line your upper waterline with black eyeliner so you can’t see any gaps in the smokey eye, making it as seamless as possible.
